Grapes: 100 % Negroamaro.

Origin: Brindisi. Contrada Cillarese. Organic Conversion
Soil: high clay content – sea level
Vine training: alberello – bush vines (47 years of age)
Yield per hectare: 70 ql.
Grape harvest: by hand, into small boxes, during the end of september in full ripeness.
Wine fermentation: temperature between 27 -28 degrees C. in steel tanks. Maceration with skin contact for 10 days, then through soft pressing.
Maturation: After malolactic fermentation step, part of the product is moved into american oak barriques of first and second fill (50% – 50%), while the other part is aged in stailess steel tanks. At the end of summer the wine matured in oak (15 %) and the wine matured in stainless steel (85 %) are blended together.
Color: Ruby red
Flavors: spices, roasted coffee, ripe red fruits, with balanced tannin.
Pairing: grilled red meats and hard cheeses.



Masada was a fortress – city located in Judea where, in the Roman period, the wine produced in Brindisi was imported. Tenute Lu Spada has been ispired by this millenial tradition and culture. This wine comes from Negroamaro vineyards with bush vines planted about 50 years ago. It has an elegant, full bodied and modern taste. It is indissolubly linked to the territory’s characteristics. Its high quality and features are given by the proximity to Adriatic Sea and Cillarese Lake.
